The clerks in the Post Office building and the carriers in Almaden Valley neighborhoods get consistently good comments when customers and residents are asked. It is very convenient to have full-service windows around the corner from one of the local shopping areas and only a few blocks away from the library and community center.
There are plenty of P.O. boxes available, and even an automated shipping machine if you are in a rush and don't want to wait in a line, even though it is usually a short line except at holiday time. The clerks are very friendly, even with customers who might annoy many other people.
The one drawback to note is that there is not a separate line to drive through if one wants only to drop a letter or a few into a mailbox, but the Almaden Valley residents seem to tolerate the parking lot congestion with patience when it occurs. An alternative, if you are in a hurry, is to park on the street near the Post Office and walk to the mailbox at the left end (as you are facing the building) of the parking area.
